GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Field Systems Administrator is responsible for the analysis of Application, File and Print server needs. They contribute to the design, architecture, integration, and installation of Plant based servers. They install and maintain local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, , wiring, plant floor networks, and data communications systems equipment.

CLIMATE
The data systems supported by the Local Area Network (LAN) administrator are mission critical and have a profound impact upon the daily functions and operations. Adherence to documented and established procedures is vital to maintaining system uptime, performance and reducing the problem resolution time frame. Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use best practices and procedures to provide a stable environment. Problem resolution techniques are critical as well as the use of good judgment. This position will require the user to wear a pager and be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to resolve critical issues.
DUTIES STANDARDS
· Administer Plant Computing Environment
· Act as a second level resource for plant based server architecture
· Administer Group Policies
· Maintain Integrity of Active Directory Accounts
· Facilitate software rollouts
· Maintain Hardware and software standards in the plants
· Perform user, group, printer, and application administration on LAN server systems..
· Monitor all system access requests; validate need and evaluate appropriate access levels needed for system access. Provide timely response to individuals requesting system accesses
· Design, implementation, testing and daily operation of backup schedule
· Grant /maintain Active Directory entries
· Administer edge switches in the plant environment
· Respond to Help Desk incidents related to plant infrastructure
· Call types – File shares, printing, network access , Group Policies
· Incidents are resolved promptly and in a professional manner.
· Offer technical assistance to members of the organization, including
installation and maintenance of hardware & software
· Issues are resolved in a responsive, efficient, and tactful manner.
· Develop and implement policies and procedures.
· Proper operating procedures are identified and documented. Develop and maintain network installation standards, procedures and checklists.
· Develop, document and test a Disaster Recovery Plan. As related to Intel-based platforms
· Policies and procedures are communicated to management and employees in a timely manner.

Knowledge
· BS, Computer Science; MCSE; or related degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum five years experience working and managing a large heterogeneous LAN, experience in LAN design and engineering, or large scale MIS/IS functions
· Minimum 5 years experience in Microsoft Windows Server implementation to include both Windows 2000 & 2003 server
· Cisco Switch administration is desired
· Minimum 5 years experience within PC hardware, peripherals and software in a network environment
· Minimum 3 years experience with Active Directory Administration
· Knowledge of ITIL fundamentals a plus
· Because of the wide array of services, topologies and technologies used, a broad technical spectrum of expertise is necessary. Although technical expertise is not required in all the areas noted, a technical understanding of the technologies and their applications is necessary.
· Hands-on and working knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal computer room and office environment with no undue exposure to noise, odors, dust, drafts, etc. A limited amount of overnight travel is required.
